Orientation Engagement Experience (OEE), August 26

I thought that the orientation engagement exercise went well. I am looking forward to collaborating with ILEAD while focusing on the topics of fundraising. I cannot wait to actually come up with ideas for her to use. I'm thinking we could do a bake sale but still thinking on doing something even better. We have time to do so but there is always room for planning. I could feel her emotion and her sincerity on the subject. It seems that she has founded numerous organizations which was very impressive. Overall this class was pretty mandatory that we went over the syllabus. I'm looking forward to see what this class has to offer me. Hopefully I can get a job from working with ILEAD which would be amazing! I'm excited to see what this year has to offer. Although there are plenty of hallmarks that would relate to my experience I feel the most relevant to my Orientation Engagement Experience was Hallmark #4 because this hallmark refers to “we commit ourselves to community service.” This is because in cooperation with ILEAD, we are creating service learning into our academic curriculum and activities. Another reason why this is relevant is because we will be creating reflections after each activity we do this is called “reflection-action-reflection” in the words of the hallmark. I feel that this hallmark relates to me personally because I am a person who loves to help people and always am willing to lend a helping hand. This is important to me because I like to see myself as a humble and respectful person.

I was impressed with the guest speaker and what she has to offer to our class. I’m interested in what we will have to offer at the end of the semester. I’m also really interested in what other types of organizations she has to offer us. I’m hoping that we will be able to take field trips and may even be able to travel during this journey. My freshman seminar class was overall interesting. What I’m most looking forward to is learning how to fundraise and how we go about that. These skills I will be learning and using will help me throughout my life. What really was a breath of fresh air was that we won’t be writing more than 20 pages!
